11 Ways To Completely Sabotage Your Double Pushchair

Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

It's easy to move around in a light double pushchair, especially if you have kids with different age groups. They're typically simple to fold, steer, and carry up and down stairs.

This City Mini GT2 features side-by-side seating with plenty of legroom. It also has adjustable reclining, UPF 50+ canopies and windows that peek out. It also has a frame that expands in size to accommodate the second car seat or another passenger.

Side-by-Side

The majority of the lightweight double pushchairs that we test are side-byside models and are best suited for children who can stand up without assistance, as these models tend to lack car seat integration. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double, and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double, are both excellent options. They have recline adjustments for both seats, a big canopy, and padded 5-point safety harnesses. They're also easy to move despite their bigger footprint, and are ideal for parents who worry about fitting into doorways.

The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because of its clever frame that expands to accommodate a second child seat. This makes it smaller than other pushchairs that are side-by-side. It can fit through standard doors and is easy to maneuver in public transportation. It can also be used as a jogger, which is a great feature for those who want to use it with baby carriers or a car seat, and comes in a range of fun colors.

The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another fantastic side-by-side double that is lightweight. It offers an even greater degree of customization due to the modular frame. It's a clever design that allows you to convert it into a single stroller or a double by incorporating two car seats or carrycots (it can even take twins). It's a great option for growing families. The umbrella stroller UPPAbaby is one of the lightest, most stylish and stylish strollers available.

If you're looking for a compact, lightweight double, consider the egg2 that folds down to the size of a tiny suitcase. It can be used as a single double by adding 2 carrycots or infant car seats and our home testers were awed by how simple and sleek it was to use, even when fully loaded with kids.

Double pushchairs with side-by-side seating aren't foolproof however -when your children are at the same age or stage they may still fight over who gets to ride in which seat. If they are at different heights, it is possible that a tandem design is ideal for them as it allows them to face eachother.

Tandem

While side-by-side models may be more appropriate for siblings with similar ages tandem pushchairs are light and lightweight, and have their own charms. They can be fitted with a larger car seat, and some even have reversible seats or an extra carrycot in the middle. They are larger and are easier to get in and out of. However,  compact twin stroller  tend to be smaller than the ones found on single buggies. They often have larger big canopies with windows that peek out, as well as one cup holder for parents and padding for the legs of young children.

The iCandy Peach tandem is another great example of a lightweight tandem that provides excellent value. The fabric is a bit less luxurious than those of some of our top-rated doubles. However,  double pram and pushchair  looks great and is easy to use. One of the most striking things about it is its one-handed fold. While it will require some practice, Kirstie in our Lab has said it's "genius". The carrycot can't be folded when it is attached. However, the mechanism to attach and remove the carrycot is easy and quick.

Tandem pushchairs that are lightweight generally make more precise turns than side-by-side models, but they can be more challenging to drive over bumps and uneven surfaces. They may also be slow to speed up and are heavier to move, which could put stress on your back.

Another alternative is a convertible double buggy, that starts out as one-person, but you can add adapters that turn it into a double. It can also have the option of a second seat, a carrycot, or both in front. The children can sit together. Some can also consider including a buggyboard that can help an older child keep pace with a younger brother or sister.

The Uppababy Vista V2 can be transformed into a twin-sized stroller by purchasing additional cocoons for PS59 each. These cocoons provide a flat space for newborns. They can be placed on top of each other or positioned to face each other and you can use them with the baby car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you choose the right one). Since they are made of high-quality materials, these kinds of dual-use buggies can often be used for many years without showing much wear, indicating they have high price resales.

Single-to-Double

This lightweight double buggy is made for families who love to go on outdoor adventures and want to upgrade from a single-stroller. It can be converted into a jogger using the kit that comes with air-filled tires as well as all-wheel suspension. It's also a good option for twins, or children from different ages, and as a triple tandem, it's able to handle rough terrain. It's also a great choice for parents who are looking for a stylish design that's as elegant as a single and is available in a range of fabrics.

We loved the way this iCandy model folds into itself using a single-hand mechanism that's very easy to master. Although it's heavier than some of the other single-to-double pushchairs in this review, our home tester Karolina said that it still feels extremely maneuverable, even when she had two toddlers and a carrycot.

You can purchase add-ons like the Roma Gemini Carrycots (PS100) which are great for babies. The seats are comfortable for toddlers and come with high-quality headrests and lumbar supports. There are numerous options for reclined seats, with the front seat adjustable in different positions and the back seat offering an option to recline.

The biggest drawback with this kind of buggy is that it is generally larger overall than doubles that are side-by-side, which makes it harder to get through doorways and can be tricky to maneuver up and down kerbs. However the suspension and wheels on these types of strollers generally do a good job of handling paved surfaces, and the fact that they're significantly lighter than the side-by-sides means you can still find plenty of storage space. It's worth bearing in mind that these strollers aren't as good at getting through narrow aisles in supermarkets and aren't able to cope with a lot of shopping. Even though it's easier to turn the stroller around on a narrow, curving path, this can be a problem. Some are easier to turn than others models, like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double.

Convertible

The great thing about convertible double pushchairs is the ability to adapt to changing family requirements. They typically start as single buggies, and include adapters to add an additional seat, a carrycot, or (in certain instances) the car seat to the frame. Some of them can be converted back to a single as your older child begins to walk more or wants to ride on buggy boards.

This stylish tri-fold double stroller can be described as one of the lightest strollers on our list. It can carry up to 40lbs per child and comes with an extra storage basket in between the seats. Home testers appreciated its spacious canopy that has windows that can be seen from the outside multi-position reclining seats, as well as front and rear suspension for smoother rides on rough terrain. It also has an easy-to-use cup holder for parents, and an enormous accessible, easily accessible basket. They also noted that the backs of the bags have small pockets which are just sufficient to hold the phone and keys.

This high-end, lightweight side-by-side is available in more than 20 different configurations. It also includes a second chair and carrycot. It features a high-profile steering handlebar, front and rear suspensions that smooth rough terrain, an ultra-compact fold that can stand on its own with straps to make it easy to transport, and seven-inch front wheels with swivel locks, and 10 inches back wheels with suspensions for an easier ride. The only downside is that you'll need to purchase a separate car seat or baby carrier.

This versatile tandem is the top pick of our home testers because it is easy to maneuver and comes with a large shopping basket that can be accessed from both seats when in the parent-facing positions. It is a breeze to maneuver due to its low weight (about the same as a few single pushchairs). Reversible seats mean they can be switched to face either direction, and the clever method by which it connects a second seat or riding board to the rear is highly praised by many. Parents also appreciated the fact that it can accommodate infant carriers and car seat from multiple brands. This includes some that are not normally compatible with other double buggies.
